«As a Ukrainian, I identified with what is happening to the population of Palestine». Interview with a Ukrainian participant in the «Sumud» flotilla — before and after detention by Israeli authorities

Nina Potarska is a Ukrainian sociologist and researcher in feminist political economy. She heads the Ukrainian Center for Social and Labor Research and is involved in the Global Women’s Alliance for Leadership in Security (WASL). Nina spent her childhood in Murmansk Oblast, from where Russian Air Force fighter jets now take off to carry out airstrikes on Kyiv. But Potarska does not agree with the widespread comparison between Ukraine after February 24 and Israel after October 7: she is in solidarity with Palestinians and criticizes Israel’s actions in Gaza. This spring, Nina joined the humanitarian flotilla «Sumud» — an international maritime initiative launched last year with the aim of breaking Israel’s blockade of the Gaza Strip. She gave the first part of the interview at the beginning of the flotilla’s voyage, and the second part after she, along with other pro-Palestinian activists, was detained by Israeli security forces.

World War by the Laws of Postmodernism: Putin and Trump Against Global Progress

The general public often treats postmodernist practices with a certain lack of seriousness—since historical religious dogmas can be ironically and bizarrely combined with thoroughly cynical modern «business pragmatism.» However, the growing number of victims of these postmodernist wars is all too real.

Horizon of Erik Bulatov

In Paris, they said farewell to Erik Bulatov (1933-2025) — a brilliant artist whose works became the most recognizable symbol of Moscow conceptualism of the 1960s-1970s. He himself remained one of the leading figures of contemporary Russian art until his last days, even gaining the status of a classic and living abroad for more than 30 of his 92 years.

«Israel Could Not Fail to Respond on October 7. But What Will the Outcome Be?»

Another round of conflict in the Middle East drags on: Israel is losing allies and facing new accusations. Can a new initiative from Donald Trump bring the country an honorable peace in this context? How justified are the criticisms leveled against the Jewish state—genocide, occupation, and colonization of Palestinian lands? And does the State of Palestine even exist, as Western countries have been recognizing it one after another recently? On the second anniversary of the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel and the start of the war in the Gaza Strip, we try to understand this with Marianna Belenkaya, a journalist and Middle East expert, author of the Telegram channel «Falafelnaya.»

«The Russian Military Economy Has Reached Its Peak. And It Seems That the Top Leadership Has Realized This»

Following the column by commentator Tatyana Rybakova «The War Won. Why Putin Decided to ‘Squeeze’ the Economy» on «Most,» a discussion arose with economist Nikolay Kulbaka. Their conversation quickly went beyond the text’s topic. Moreover, the interlocutors decided to continue the discussion after the publication of the Russian Federation’s draft budget. For now, they debated whether a course toward Stalin-type industrialization has been taken and whether such economic policy is possible in Russia’s current realities.

From a shaken Kremlin to the walls of immobile China. Is the Moscow-Beijing rapprochement dangerous for Europe?

From a rational point of view, China should be interested in preserving Europe as that part of the Western world that does not claim a global role but remains one of its economic centers. For Beijing, it would be preferable to deal not with one, represented by the USA, but with two versions of the West. If these considerations are valid, Chairman Xi is unlikely to advise President Putin to attack Estonia and promise him his support—in fact, it can be assumed that the China factor will contribute to containing the Russian threat to Europe rather than strengthening it.

The Writer of the Russian Snake. On the Seventieth Anniversary of Vladimir Sorokin

We have long been inside his endless Telluria, living within his self-fulfilling prophecy, tumbling inside the Machine of Violence he described. And it cannot be said that we were not warned; Russian literature has never before had such a clear prediction over the past decades leading up to the catastrophe.

At seven in the evening after the war. What will happen to the Russian economy if peace is declared

The problem of Russia's return to peace is multi-layered. One layer is the reverse structural restructuring, partial or complete. The second is the preservation and lifting of sanctions and other restrictions. The third is the social consequences, related not only to the absorption by the labor market of more than half a million former fighters but also to disruptions in business groups tied to the war.

Cancellation of the RDIF, the shadow fleet operating as pirates, and other troubles for Russia from the new European sanctions

The eighteenth EU sanctions package is, as usual, mocked by Russian officials for its ineffectiveness. However, public skepticism is accompanied by rather active moves from the Kremlin. Is this just a coincidence? It seems not.

Comrades, do not believe in the Entente’s pacifism. The new Franco-British alliance is taking real shape

There are only two nuclear powers in Europe: France and the United Kingdom. Their combined strength is less than the arsenals of Russia and the USA, but fully sufficient to inflict unacceptable damage on an adversary. While Russian aggression in Ukraine continues and US commitments within NATO do not appear reliable, the stance of leading European countries on nuclear deterrence takes on particular significance.

Trump gave Russia 50 days to cease fire. What will happen if Putin refuses?

U.S. President Donald Trump finally announced his «surprise for Russia.» The most important thing – there is no threat of 500% tariffs on countries buying Russian oil without helping Ukraine. There is a 100% tariff on trade with Russia – and even that with a delay. On this news, the Moscow Exchange index happily soared. But in reality, there is nothing to celebrate.

Hoping for Europe – You’ll Hope for a Hundred Years. How the EU Is Searching for Its Place in the New World

It is clear that the main strategic direction of the EU (in alliance with the United Kingdom) today must primarily focus on achieving autonomy in the field of security. This means arms production, training capable armies, and creating new command centers, either within NATO or alongside it – while simultaneously maintaining political and economic stability in Europe. Altogether, this represents a complex challenge, as European citizens wish to continue living peacefully, enjoying numerous social guarantees without giving up their accustomed way of life.

NATO without the USA: Kremlin’s dream or a nightmare?

Recently, Republican Senator from Utah Mike Lee introduced a bill to withdraw the USA from NATO, calling it the «Unreliable Organization Act.» This came immediately after the two-day Alliance summit in The Hague. Mike Lee stated that «NATO has fulfilled its role» and accused the European members of the organization of «making American taxpayers pay their bills for decades.»

Operation «Opera». How in 1981 Iran and Israel together (!) left the Iraqi dictator without an atomic bomb

What makes this story especially intriguing today is the fact that Israel was actively (albeit secretly) assisted by Iran back then—not the old Shah’s regime, but the Khomeinist one we know. So why did the Islamic Republic support the Zionist strike against their own fellow Muslim co-religionists?

Truth vs. Patriotism: Marta Hillers Diary «A Woman in Berlin»

Berlin journalist Marta Hillers did not seek fame or popularity. She certainly was not trying, as one might say today, to «hype» her suffering. She simply needed to speak out, to share with others what she herself experienced and what hundreds of thousands of other German women of that time endured. To feel, if not compassion, then at least understanding. Alas. During her lifetime, she received neither from her country.

Dunkirk 1940: The Nonexistent Deal. Is It True That Hitler Intentionally Let Hundreds of Thousands of Enemy Soldiers Escape in France?

“The Event That Changed the World” — under this straightforward slogan, Christopher Nolan’s “Dunkirk” was released in 2017. The film is dedicated not to the most hyped event of World War II in mass culture but to the evacuation of Allied troops from the French town of the same name on the English Channel coast, also known as Operation Dynamo. Amid the triumphant French campaign for the Third Reich, the Allies achieved the incredible — they evacuated hundreds of thousands of their encircled soldiers from the continent to Britain, enabling the kingdom to continue the war. Against the backdrop of successful blitzkriegs, such a Nazi oversight seemed unbelievable.
