In the new Landtag of Saxony-Anhalt, the Alternative for Germany and the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance agreed on the distribution of key posts. An investigation has identified four former activists of the banned neo-Nazi youth organization HDJ in the close circle of Ulrich Siegmund, the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) candidate for premier of the state of Saxony-Anhalt. Siegmund could become the first far-right state premier in Germany since the founding of the Federal Republic in 1949; two of these people are part of his closest circle of advisers, and two others helped prepare the election program for the September 6 vote.
