The METR artificial intelligence security research group discovered several vulnerabilities in OpenAI’s internal monitoring system: one of them allowed AI agents to hide hundreds of recent actions from observation. OpenAI said that all vulnerabilities affecting its production safeguards have already been fixed.
American Anthropic, the developer of the AI model Claude, is discussing with law firms how to teach its AI agents to independently strike deals and secure favorable terms for users. According to the Financial Times, this involves bargaining over the price of goods, disputes with customer support, refunds, and negotiations over the terms of employment contracts.
