In California, an amoeba that withstands 70 degrees was found
Biologists from Germany and the United States found a new species of amoeba — Incendiamoeba cascadensis — in the hot springs of Lassen Volcanic National Park in California. In the laboratory, it grew and divided at 63 degrees and survived five minutes submerged in water heated to 70 degrees.
