All six early oil works by Edward Hopper turned out to be copies
A study of Edward Hopper’s early works showed that all six of his first oil paintings, created before he entered the New York School of Art in the United States in the fall of 1900, were copies of other people’s paintings. These works were found in the attic of the artist’s family home in Nyack, New York, and after Hopper’s death they were long taken to be his originals.
