Bloomberg: Nucor imported 18 shipments of pig iron over three years from Brazilian suppliers linked to investigations into slave labor
Nucor Corp., the largest steel producer in North America, imported at least 18 shipments of pig iron from six Brazilian suppliers over three years. These shipments accounted for about 5% of the company’s average annual pig iron purchases; Bloomberg writes that Brazilian authorities linked the suppliers to charcoal purchases in camps where working conditions fall under the local definition of modern slavery.
