Russia lost about 190 sq. km of territory in Ukraine in September, which the Finnish OSINT project Black Bird Group considers to be under Russian control. This is the largest net monthly loss since June 2023, according to the project’s data.

The RPTC denied reports from Telegram channels that Russian troops may have lost part of Dmitry Donskoy’s relics during a withdrawal in the Lyman area of Donetsk Oblast. French OSINT analyst Clément Molen said that in 2026 the Ukrainian army liberated twice as much territory as during the 2023 counteroffensive. According to him, the advance is taking place on a front section about 90 km long between Borova in Kharkiv Oblast and Sloviansk in Donetsk Oblast.

The Ukrainian monitoring project DeepState reported the advance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Lyman direction and showed the liberation of the territory around Sredneye, as well as the withdrawal of Russian units from positions near Shandrigolovo. Commander of the 3rd Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andriy Biletskyi confirmed Operation «Vivaldi» on September 15 and said that the corps had cleared 75 km² and de-occupied another 10 km².
