Scientists explained why rare substances in Enceladus’s plumes gather in separate ice grains

An international team of scientists led by Frank Postberg from the Free University of Berlin found that Enceladus «sorts» substances from its subsurface ocean before ejecting them into space. According to the authors, this could make it easier to search for rare compounds, including organic matter, in future missions to Saturn’s moon.
