Pennsylvania tied CDC aid to recognition of four measles deaths
Pennsylvania authorities asked the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for emergency support in fighting the measles outbreak, but said they would accept it only after the four deaths were officially acknowledged. The state health department also said that U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. ordered that these deaths not be included in the national statistics and questioned their connection to the measles virus.
