In September, oil production in Russia fell to 8.643 million barrels per day, according to the OPEC report citing secondary sources. This is 38,000 barrels per day less than the revised August level and 1.306 million barrels below Russia’s quota under the OPEC+ agreement.
Saudi Arabia reduced oil supplies to Europe after drones damaged the East-West oil pipeline, which leads to the Red Sea bypassing the Strait of Hormuz. The kingdom also canceled part of September shipments for European customers, and loading at the port of Yanbu on the Red Sea was suspended.

Russian oil companies have been cutting output for the ninth straight month after a series of Ukrainian strikes on refineries, which have driven the country’s oil processing to its lowest level in two decades. In August, oil production in the Russian Federation fell to 8.72 million barrels per day — 160,000 barrels per day less than in July and 1.17 million barrels per day below the OPEC+ quota.
