From Chișinău to Yerevan. Why Russia’s Former Allies Are Choosing the European Union

This Sunday, June 7, Armenia is holding parliamentary elections-and the campaign there is unfolding according to a logic reminiscent of Moldova’s 2025 campaign. Nikol Pashinyan’s party is building its campaign around theses similar to those used in Moldova by Maia Sandu’s party: European integration and resistance to Russian threats. However, this is driven not only by the desire to protect themselves from Moscow. Both Armenian and Moldovan societies have become disillusioned with Russia as a partner that promised support but failed to provide it at key moments. For Armenia, this resulted in the loss of Karabakh; in Moldova, residents of Transnistria nearly ran out of gas in winter. The European course is seen as an alternative and a way to escape pressure, economic restrictions, and political ultimatums from Moscow. This distancing from Russia will apparently continue as long as Vladimir Putin remains in power in the Kremlin.

«Defend Yourselves.» In the Fifth Year of the War in Ukraine, Russia Has Lost Its Strategic Depth

The events of May 2026 have shown a significant shift in the balance of power on the fronts of the Russian-Ukrainian war. In fact, the two sides have reached parity. Yet, at the start of the full-scale war in 2022, Vladimir Putin did not consider Ukraine a significant opponent at all.

What Russia’s Military Presence in Mali Means for Moscow

The Malian military junta is losing control of the situation in the country. This does not mean its rapid or inevitable fall, but the fragmentation of Mali into zones of influence controlled by various groups—where no laws apply—has already taken place. And it seems that Russian military presence has failed to prevent this disintegration.

Migrants: The End of Europe? Is it true that newcomers are dragging down the EU economy

This is the final text about the problems of mass migration in Europe. More precisely, about the myths that make people think that migrants, especially from Muslim countries, are Europe's main problem. That the economy (for example, the German one) is stagnating because Germany has turned into either a transit point or a boarding house. Where new residents don't want to work, but to live on benefits.

Popular Science in Russia and the West: Two Markets, Two Logics, Two Survival Modes

According to the most optimistic estimates, the total audience of popular science publications in Russia is only about 6 million people. That’s roughly 4% of the population. And this market in Russia today, it seems, is experiencing a crisis.

«The Hungarian Red Banner Sanctifies Him in Battle.» Orbán’s Defeat in Hungary’s Election Is a Victory for Europe

A week ago, Hungary’s ruling Fidesz party suffered a crushing defeat in parliamentary elections. Thus ended the Viktor Orbán era. For 16 years in power, he assumed that the benefits of close ties with Moscow would always outweigh the image costs. In reality, Hungarian voters wanted not only low prices for gasoline and gas, but also a European identity.

The Battle for the Last Mile. Russian Authorities Take Control of the Postal Services Market Using the Same Model as the Internet

There should be only one entry point for consumers — Russian Post. All private marketplaces will also have to operate through it, and, according to the government's logic, they'll even have to pay for the privilege.

Migrants: The End of Europe? Debunking Myths About Alien Crime and Terrorism Using Germany as an Example

In the previous text, we discussed that migrants in Europe are not «guests» at all. In Germany, where I (a migrant) live, 25-30% of all citizens have migrant roots. In this sense, Germany occupies in Europe the same place that America once did in the world. That is, a migrant is not a «wicked Chechen» who, in Lermontov's words, «crawls ashore, sharpening his dagger,» but an integral part of the German landscape. Now it is necessary to talk about the crime that migrants, according to the common opinion, bring with them (here, unfortunately, the common opinion is correct). And about the terrorism that is called «Islamic.»

«I talk to ChatGPT every day, and for the first time in many years, life doesn’t feel so unbearable»

The surge of interest in artificial intelligence in Russia is happening against a backdrop of intense stress: people barely had time to recover from the pandemic before new problems arose—war and the state’s brazen intrusion into private life. At the same time, psychological help remains expensive: from 2,000 rubles per session in the provinces and several times more in the capital. There are still few qualified specialists, and in small towns and villages, often none at all.

Tajik Transit in Question. Emomali Rahmon Won’t Relinquish Power, Even for His Son

Tajikistan is the only post-Soviet country where power has not changed hands since the early 1990s. The president long ago chose his eldest son, Rustam Emomali, as his successor, but the transfer of authority is constantly postponed.

The President of Kyrgyzstan has launched a large-scale purge of officials. The first to go was his friend—the head of the National Security Committee

After the resignation of the head of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan, Kamchybek Tashiev, President Sadyr Japarov has begun a sweeping purge of officials. The apparent goal is to bring the entire system of state governance under his control and become the sole center of power. Achieving this won’t be easy: over the past five years, Tashiev concentrated a significant share of managerial and economic decisions in his own hands, and it’s far from clear that Japarov will be able to fill this vacuum—or hold on to power.

Russia Lost Its Wallet in Serbia: Its Oil and Gas Company NIS Went to Hungary and the UAE

«The Hardest Winter in Four Years of War»

Old New Year has passed, the Christmas holidays are over, and 2026 has fully come into its own. The wild start to the new calendar stretch—Nicolás Maduro’s nighttime flight, the resurgence of piracy in the Atlantic Ocean, and blood-soaked Iran—may have pushed into the background the fact that we have now been living for four years in the largest war in Europe in the last 80 years.

The End of Illusions. In the very first days of the new year, the Kremlin suffered a series of painful blows from the US

First came the nighttime abduction of the friendly Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro, then the boarding of two «shadow» tankers in the Atlantic, and now the announcement of «bone-crushing» sanctions that Congress had postponed all of last year. It seems incredible that less than two weeks ago, pro-government media in Russia were seriously anticipating a rapprochement between Moscow and Washington and predicting diplomatic isolation for Kyiv. The «spirit of Anchorage,» which Kremlin propaganda so eagerly inhaled last autumn, has completely dissipated by winter.

Heeding the Horrors of War: What Consequences Could the New World Order in Ukraine Have for Europe

The fewer economic, cultural, and simply human ties between Russia and European countries, the more conflict stories there are, the easier it will be to turn toward a possible military clash. No one in Europe wants such a development, but a peaceful Russian-Ukrainian agreement as imposed by the American administration looks like a respite for the aggressor. Therefore, Europe and Ukraine need to build a new structure to deter Russia together, without wasting time.
