Icelanders rejected the resumption of accession talks with the EU: 52.8% against 47.2%

In Iceland, 52.8% of voters voted against resuming negotiations on joining the European Union, while 47.2% supported the move. The vote was a blow to Brussels, but it did not mean the country was abandoning its close ties with the EU.

«As a Ukrainian, I identified with what is happening to the population of Palestine». Interview with a Ukrainian participant in the «Sumud» flotilla — before and after detention by Israeli authorities

Nina Potarska is a Ukrainian sociologist and researcher in feminist political economy. She heads the Ukrainian Center for Social and Labor Research and is involved in the Global Women’s Alliance for Leadership in Security (WASL). Nina spent her childhood in Murmansk Oblast, from where Russian Air Force fighter jets now take off to carry out airstrikes on Kyiv. But Potarska does not agree with the widespread comparison between Ukraine after February 24 and Israel after October 7: she is in solidarity with Palestinians and criticizes Israel’s actions in Gaza. This spring, Nina joined the humanitarian flotilla «Sumud» — an international maritime initiative launched last year with the aim of breaking Israel’s blockade of the Gaza Strip. She gave the first part of the interview at the beginning of the flotilla’s voyage, and the second part after she, along with other pro-Palestinian activists, was detained by Israeli security forces.

I boldly express my feelings. Why are pro-Palestinian sentiments growing in Europe?

The loud «Freedom Flotilla for Gaza 2025» action last week was accompanied by many sympathetic comments, despite the senselessness and provocativeness of its content combined with the obvious promotional agenda of its participants. Using France as an example, one can see what European pro-Palestinian support forces rely on.

Operation «Opera». How in 1981 Iran and Israel together (!) left the Iraqi dictator without an atomic bomb

What makes this story especially intriguing today is the fact that Israel was actively (albeit secretly) assisted by Iran back then—not the old Shah’s regime, but the Khomeinist one we know. So why did the Islamic Republic support the Zionist strike against their own fellow Muslim co-religionists?

The Reformer’s Curse. The Results of Elon Musk’s Brief Political Career

If we set aside ideological grievances against Elon Musk and try to impartially look at the path he has taken over the past few years, it can be quite disheartening. Not so much because of his series of personal failures, which ultimately led to the erasure of his reputation and distancing from the White House, but because of the failure of the very concept of bridging innovative business with politics. A concept that until recently seemed so meritocratically attractive and promising. ‍

«Comrade Putin, for Gods sake, go to Istanbul for the talks.» Why Trump and other leaders failed to force Russia to peace

The behind-the-scenes diplomatic battle between the presidents of Ukraine and Russia has ended. The moral victory is once again with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, but there will be no peace in the coming weeks, and possibly months.

New Pope: made in USA. Will Trump Dare to Compete with Leo XIV?

Protecting Christians in America and worldwide was one of Trump's campaign promises. Now it is important for him to demonstrate to voters his closeness to the head of the Catholic Church. However, one should not expect a successful symbiosis of secular and spiritual power in the case of the first American pope and the 47th American president. ‍

The son of the CIA deputy director in the «meat assault» and the cult of collective identity

Let's put aside the «professionalism» of the Russian special services, who couldn't even identify a valuable asset and simply disposed of him in yet another offensive on the Ukrainian front. Nevertheless, this situation itself is quite telling. Of course, not every left-wing radical agrees to fight on Russia's side, but Michael Gloss's case as a whole illustrates rather problematic trends in Western society (and not only Western).‍

«The Americans put their own ass on the line, and we kicked them as much as we could»

The Cold War between the USSR and the USA was a unique conflict in human history. On both sides, it was waged not so much by the military as by intelligence agents, diplomats, weapons designers, and even journalists, athletes, and cultural figures. Therefore, it’s no surprise that the flight of a single aircraft could be comparable to the actions of a large military formation in a conventional war.
