In Albania, on the seventh day of clashes between protesters and police, 295 people were injured, including 186 police officers. Among the participants in the demonstrations, many of whom are high school students and university students, there are those demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and better conditions at universities.
In Tirana, 51 police officers were injured in clashes with participants in student protests. Some of the officers are in the Military Hospital, where they are receiving medical care, said Albania’s Interior Minister Ervin Demo.
On October 6, the European Commission proposed introducing a 15-year probation period for new EU members, during which a country could be stripped of voting rights or access to funds from the EU budget for violating basic democratic values. The EC presented the five-step package after a meeting in Strasbourg, France.
