Swedish commission demands apologies and compensation for the Sámi
Sweden’s state commission on truth concerning the Sámi has called on the government to apologize for the harm and injustice done to the Sámi people and to launch a national process of redress and reconciliation. Separately, it urged that apologies be urgently made to elderly Sámi who were sent as children to separate «nomad schools» and other boarding institutions.
