Moldovan President Maia Sandu on Saturday accused Russia after, according to Moldovan authorities, three missiles and two drones entered the country’s airspace. Their debris was later found on the republic’s territory.
Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russian drones twice tried to attack his plane. According to him, the first episode was on September 8 during departure to Oslo, and the second — when he was returning to Kyiv from Chișinău, the capital of Moldova.

The FSB and the Investigative Committee reported the detention in Astrakhan Oblast of 21-year-old Moldovan citizen Nicolae Cociu. He is suspected of attempting to attack a Russian serviceman in Saratov Oblast; cases have been opened against him for attempted murder and illegal arms trafficking.

This Sunday, June 7, Armenia is holding parliamentary elections-and the campaign there is unfolding according to a logic reminiscent of Moldova’s 2025 campaign. Nikol Pashinyan’s party is building its campaign around theses similar to those used in Moldova by Maia Sandu’s party: European integration and resistance to Russian threats. However, this is driven not only by the desire to protect themselves from Moscow. Both Armenian and Moldovan societies have become disillusioned with Russia as a partner that promised support but failed to provide it at key moments. For Armenia, this resulted in the loss of Karabakh; in Moldova, residents of Transnistria nearly ran out of gas in winter. The European course is seen as an alternative and a way to escape pressure, economic restrictions, and political ultimatums from Moscow. This distancing from Russia will apparently continue as long as Vladimir Putin remains in power in the Kremlin.

Until the early 2020s, Abbas Gallyamov was integrated into the Russian power structure: he worked as a speechwriter for Vladimir Putin when he was prime minister, as a political consultant in regional elections, and as deputy head of the administration of the president of Bashkortostan. But after the Russian invasion of Ukraine began, Gallyamov left for Israel, was labeled a foreign agent by the Russian Ministry of Justice, and last year was sentenced in absentia to eight years for «discrediting the Russian army.» We spoke with Abbas about the changing world order after Trump’s election, the prospects of a Russian invasion of an EU neighbor, and how friends of Putin’s younger daughter are quietly preparing to take power into their own hands.
