The Eritrean authorities have decided to sever all diplomatic relations with Ethiopia. Asmara’s decision followed Addis Ababa’s order to close its embassy in Eritrea and its declaration that 10 Eritrean diplomats were persona non grata.
Ethiopia and Eritrea have severed diplomatic relations amid renewed fighting in northern Ethiopia, where more than 50 people have been killed since last week. On Thursday, Addis Ababa closed its embassy in Asmara, the capital of Eritrea, and ordered 10 Eritrean diplomats to leave the country within 48 hours; Asmara announced a reciprocal response.
Russia proposed that Vietnam transfer aircraft of Vietnamese carriers to domestic airlines under wet lease, that is, lease them together with crew and maintenance. This was said by Transport Minister Andrey Nikitin after Russian-Vietnamese talks in Moscow.
