The Nepal Army confirmed the rescue of two people from the tunnel of the Trishuli-3A hydropower plant in Rasuwa district after the August 26 flood. Search efforts continue; rescuers had previously heard voices from the tunnel, where, according to a Nepali lawmaker, other survivors may still remain.
Nepal’s emergency agency said the number of victims of the devastating flood on the border of Nepal and Tibet has exceeded 1,000 people. More than 3,900 people are listed as missing, including more than 600 workers whom the authorities believe are still trapped by a mud-filled network of tunnels at hydropower facilities along the Trishuli River.
