In Delhi, authorities detained more than 2,000 protesters, including the founder of the youth movement Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), Abhijit Dipke, to disrupt a rally demanding the resignation of the head of India’s Election Commission, Gyanesh Kumar. Mobile internet was shut off in the city center, dozens of metro stations and markets were closed, and the Jantar Mantar site was cordoned off even before the action began.
