The Donald Trump administration is preparing sweeping sanctions against the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, the Netherlands, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) writes. The restrictions could ban most financial transactions with the court and settlements in U.S. dollars, cutting the ICC off from most of the global financial system.
Bundeswehr Inspector General Carsten Breuer was elected on September 19 as Chairman of NATO’s Military Committee — the alliance’s highest military body. He will take office in July 2027.

The Special Tribunal for War Crimes in Kosovo in The Hague (Netherlands) on September 16 sentenced the former leader of the Kosovo Liberation Army and former president of the partially recognized Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, to 25 years in prison. Along with him, three former KLA leaders received sentences: Kadri Veseli — 18 years, Jakup Krasniqi — 25 years, and Rexhep Selimi — 13 years.

The Seimas Committee on Law and Order of Lithuania on Wednesday supported the initiative to remove Article 137 from the Constitution, which prohibits the deployment of nuclear weapons and bases of other states in the country. Seven committee members voted for the draft, two against; now it must be brought to a plenary vote and sent to the President of Lithuania.
On Tuesday, Vladimir Putin spoke by phone with Donald Trump for the first time since early July, said presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.
