Israeli Culture Minister Miki Zohar threatened to strip directors Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor of their citizenship after their documentary «NAZA» received a special jury prize at the Venice Film Festival. Zohar called the film «treason» and said he intends to immediately begin the citizenship-stripping procedure.
At the 83rd Venice International Film Festival on the island of Lido, Ilya Khrzhanovsky received the Silver Lion for Best Director for the film Dau. The top prize, the Golden Lion, went to the film The Unknown Woman by Danish director May el-Toukhy.
