In Russia, the complete absence of domestic Atlantic salmon smolt and a shortage of high-quality trout roe and juveniles for fish farms were acknowledged. This follows from the explanatory note to the bill that the State Duma adopted in the first reading on October 15.
Fish farmers in Russia produced 45 tons of sturgeon caviar in January–August, which is 5% more than in the same period a year earlier. This was reported by the Fish Union following an analysis of Rosstat data.
