«Memorial» reported an increase in cases under FSB articles amid an overall decline in prosecutions for statements
The human rights project «Memorial», in a report on politically motivated criminal cases in Russia, said that the decline in prosecutions for statements has barely affected the articles under the jurisdiction of the FSB. In the first nine months of 2026, the number of new defendants under two of the three such articles increased, while under the third it fell by only 1%.
