Mass protests against rising living costs, underfunding of education, and restrictions on freedom of assembly took place in France on Saturday, October 24. Emmanuel Macron said that this coming Saturday no protests will be allowed in France, except for trade union marches, in order to prevent a repeat of the vandalism, looting, and violence of last weekend. Union processions will be allowed to proceed only along routes agreed with the police.
