The WhatsApp channel «Lula’s Army», created in support of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s campaign, became, according to his allies, one of the factors behind the turnaround in Brazil’s presidential race. Three weeks before Lula’s victory, he was trailing right-wing rival Flavio Bolsonaro, then moved ahead, and the channel quickly grew to 10.8 million subscribers.
