Scientists described how extinct cicada-like insects from amber about 100 million years ago extracted tree sap with a flexible proboscis, which was often longer than the body, and published the study in the journal Insects. The research showed that its folded tip worked like a bendable tube and did not break when bent.
In Filinskaya Bay in the Kaliningrad region, amber with remains of an ancient oyster was discovered. The specimen has already been handed over to the Museum of the World Ocean in Kaliningrad.
