Merz, Meloni and De Wever proposed an «emergency brake» for new EU laws
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever have proposed giving EU countries an «emergency brake» mechanism to stop new laws from Brussels if they are deemed too burdensome. They made this proposal in a letter to European Council President António Costa.
